Trash Liners Material

When deciding on the type of trash can liners there are a 3 types of materials. In order of most popular to least popular plastic trash bag materials are LDPE (Low Density Polyethylene), HDPE (High Density Polyethylene), and LLDPE (Linear Low Density Polyethylene).

LDPE Trash Bags: Ideal for light yard work when disposing of trimmings and sticks to every day household use. Also perfect for when disposing of sharp or jagged edges such as lawn trimmings, sticks, broken glass, and/or residential food waste. LDPE garbage bags have a greater elasticity and dart strength than to HDPE trash bags. This means that the bags will stretch before tearing and when it does tear it will not spread compared to HDPE plastic garbage bags. All of our LDPE trash can liners are made from 100% first use resin that is designed to provide industry best impact and tensile strengths compared to other trash can liners.

HDPE Trash Bags: Ideal for office waste and restaurants that will have wet waste, this material is more economical than LDPE plastic garbage bags. Once HDPE trash bags get perforated the tear will spread. Thus, HDPE trash liners are meant to be utilized for light office use and waste that will not for waste that is sharp or jagged such as lawn clippings and/or glass.

LLDPE Trash Bags: Ideal for heavy weight usage such as construction debris and objects that can cause punctures in the bag. With a the highest tensile strength, dart strength, and impact strength compared to the other materials. LLDPE trash bags is the best solution for the heaviest of duty jobs.

With varying types of thickness in trash can liners the ideal way to approach which thickness is the following. The standard office receptacle will be a .48mil trash can liner (or 6-8 micron HDPE plastic trash bags) and standard house liner will start approximately at 0.58 mil to 0.78mil trash bags. Trash bags found at outdoor parks and events start at 0.78 mil to 1.3mil and for outdoor lawn work heavyweight liners start at 1.3 mil to as much as 3 mil in thickness. With construction grade drum liners mil thickness can start from 2mil and go as high as 6 mil for heavy duty drum liners.

In addition, the seal type on trash can liners is also important to consider. The two types are the star seal and flat seal. Star seal trash liners are sealed at the bottom and folded over at the center. This type of seal on plastic trash bags are ideal when wanting prevent leaks from occurring. With flat seal plastic garbage bags work when the bag needs to be spread out and allow for the volume within the bag to spread out and not have debris centralize at the bottom of the bag. The flat seal gusseted clear can liners also work perfectly as liners for use such as corrugated boxes
